SuicideGirl mission in the Apple Store…
When I was kid I dreamed of living in a store. Yes, I grow up surrounded by commercialism. The shopping mall was the best way to spend a weekend.
In college, my favorite places to go at night when I can’t sleep was Walgreens (24 hours pharmacy) and Home Depot. At 3 in the a.m. it’s awesome to go shopping.
In New York, I didn’t have to go anywhere to find a place that was opened. Everything was always opened, which then made me feel like I should just stay at home anyways. New York is where I became anti-shopping. Funny how that works, huh?
This open 24/7 culture hardly exists in Europe. Out of food at midnight? Good luck, nothing’s open except the cigarette vending machine. Wanna get some soda on a Sunday? Maybe head to the train station.
The latest flagship Apple Store on Fifth Ave is not only big, bright, and Apple, but it is opened 24/7. Never close. Just like a 7/11!
How is a 24/7 Apple Store so special in comparison to Walgreens or Home Depot or your corner deli? Well, in the Apple Store, you have the internet connection. And in the Apple Store, unlike other computer stores, you can use their computers to check your email, play games, play music, blog, what-have-you. If this existed in college, I would have never gone to class!
My friend is doing a live blog for Suicide Girls, right now (as of Wednesday), from the Apple Store where she plans to stay there for as long as she could. Until she collapse or get kicked out. After six hours, her energy is running a bit low. It is, after all, just a store and not an amusement park or library. But then it will be morning soon and maybe more people will join her to keep her awake:

What would you blog if you were at the Apple Store?
