Stories of military robots that should have been the ending of BSG

This TED talk video is about 17 minutes long, and if you’re into science fiction and tech stuff, I’d recommend finding some time to pay attention to this. Actually, you probably don’t have to be into science fiction to find this fascinating (or scary?). PW Singer is talking what robots are being used in warfare today, and most of us are far from where wars happen so I think this is incredibly educating.

For the BSG fans who railed at their finale (I’m one of them) for showing less-than-interesting robot clips of the Honda Asimo’s dancing… well, what PW Singer is talking about actually brought that point home much better than the BSG writers did. Also, looking at the stealth planes, you could imagine them being the ancient, archaic version of the Cylon radar.

  1. RIght, I was bummed by Honda Asimo’s dancing scene from the last episode of BSG!
I’ve been reading about tiny insect robots + insect/cyborg robots in articles last few years and I wonder what the us military really have. I bet what the US military announced to the publics are over-10 years technology. Also there is a very insightful article about Robot(toys) brutality & right in last month’s Wired magazine about ‘Tickle Me Elmo Extreme’
