The ever so precious iPhone and their ridiculous plan

… and well, i think the story is more about the morons they hire to be on the phone.

We called to ask about Fido‘s iPhone 3GS plan, and were informed that – you’d have to buy the iPhone and activate the service today because the promotional plan for the new 3GS is expiring tomorrow (August 1st).

However, the actual iPhones are all sold out in Canada and would take up to a month to arrive.

Oh. Ok.

But in order to take this promotional plan, you’d have to order it online, activate your phone plan and, well, because you’re activating it, we’re gonna have to charge youfor the service for the month of August, even though we can pretty much tell you that you won’t get the actual phone–to use this service you’re paying for–until September.

Ok! Thanks for nothing then.

Seriously, Fido, you and your confusing promotions (that is never really a deal anyway) can suck it.

…Afterwards I went online and did some googling and found out that this super deal promotion has been extended until September 15th. So we still have a bit more time to actually decide if we want to go legit after all. (But I looove my jailbroken 1st gen iPhone that is a threat to national security… having it makes me feel special.)

UPDATE: well, never mind all this… we just got an iPhone 3GS and activated it at the shop. apparently not sold out… must have been a blitz to create demand.
