| artists Urico Fujii in short uF, is an artist / performer exploring experimental ways of interfacing with technology. By interfacing technology with organic matters such as tears, smoke, hair, moss, breath of sound, biological data, she presents more humane way of incorporating technology, where technology adjusts to human and nature, not vice versa. This is done in order to emphasize the significance of natural matters in the world that is overlooked with the fast advancement of technology. Her works take the form of musical instruments, live intermediated performances, networked installations, interactive sculptures, live video, and toys. She creates her work from the desire to sense the insensible, beyond the sensible range of the 5 senses. Born and raised in Japan. Holds B.A. in Philosophy from International Christian University in Tokyo, received training in dance performance, photography, and video. Traveled and performed around the southern hemisphere with Japanese NGO, Peace Boat an affiliate of UNESCO. Currently lives in New York, and attends Interactive Telecommunications Program at Tisch School of the Arts, New York University. Ann Poochareon is a new media artist living in New York City, and currently attending graduate program at the Interactive Telecommunications Program, NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Ann was recently seen at SIGGRAPH 2003, as a presenter of live performative tools for 3D characters. Her works range from digital photography, websites, videos, to interactive projects, physical installations, and stage performances. Ann often collaborates with other artists to create work that addresses social and political issues. She’s involved with the Research and Development Division at Eyebeam, a New York based non-profit organization dedicated to art and technology. She is a co-producer of Hello Kitty is Dead Productions, a video production group addressing female identity and issues, and is also a member and technical guru of Mango Tribe, an Asian American women’s performing arts collective. |
